At Highland, we believe that growing in God’s Word together strengthens faith and deepens family bonds. Whether you’re just getting started or looking for a fresh way to engage with Scripture, here are a few meaningful ways to study the Bible as a family.
- Set a Regular Time: Consistency is key! Choose a time that works for your family-whether it’s before bed, during breakfast, or a weekly family night. Keep it simple and sustainable!
- Choose a Bible Plan or Story: Decide on a Bible reading plan, devotional, or book of the Bible to go through together.
- Read, Listen, and Discuss: Take turns reading a passage out loud or listen to an audio bible. Then ask a few meaningful questions: What does this teach us about God? How can we live this out today? How can we pray about this?
- Make It Fun and Interactive: Act out Bible stories-This is great for younger kids! Draw or journal about the lesson, sing a worship song related to the passage, or memorize a verse together and put it on the fridge.
- Pray Together: Close your time together by thanking God, praying for each other, and asking for Gods help in living out His Word. Encourage each family member to share prayer reqeusts.

Carry a drawing pad, magna doodle, or journal in your vehicle. On the way to school each day have your child doodle any prayer request there are for that day. It can be for themselves, or others in the car. After you drop them off at school or their event, pray for their needs. Follow up with each child after school to see how things went and let them know that you were praying for them and their requests.
Use popsicle sticks to spark conversations with your kids after school or events. Use a fun container and a piece of foam to fit in the bottom. Color the popsicle sticks and write a few questions on them to engage your kids of how they might have seen God throughout the day.
